Calculating NEET 2025 Scores Using the Official Answer Key

To determine the estimated score in NEET 2025, candidates can follow a standard calculation method based on the marking scheme prescribed by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Steps to Calculate NEET 2025 Marks

  1. Identify the Total Number of Correct Responses:
Count the total number of questions answered correctly.
  2. Apply the Positive Marking Scheme:
Multiply the number of correct answers by 4, as each correct response carries 4 marks.
  3. Determine the Number of Incorrect Responses:
Count all the answers marked incorrectly.
  4. Apply Negative Marking for Incorrect Answers:
Deduct 1 mark for every incorrect response from the total marks obtained through correct answers.
  5. Final Score Calculation Formula:
Total Score = (Number of Correct Answers × 4) − (Number of Incorrect Answers × 1)

This formula helps in estimating the final score out of a maximum of 720 marks.

Verification and Comparison of NEET OMR Sheets and Answer Keys

Once the NEET 2025 provisional answer key and the OMR response sheets are made available on the official website, it is essential for candidates to examine them carefully. A thorough review should be conducted to verify the accuracy of the recorded responses.

In addition, it is advisable to compare the provisional answer key issued by the NTA with the unofficial answer keys released by various coaching institutions on the day of the examination. This comparative review may help identify any potential discrepancies.

Challenging the NEET 2025 Answer Key or OMR Sheet

If discrepancies are found, candidates are allowed to challenge the provisional answer key or their recorded responses. However, such objections must be submitted within the provided timeframe announced by the NTA. Any challenges submitted after the deadline or without following the prescribed procedure will be considered invalid.

The processing fee for raising an objection is ₹200 per challenged response, which is non-refundable.

Importance of Score Estimation

Estimating the NEET 2025 score using the answer key enables candidates to assess their chances of qualifying for medical or dental admissions. It also assists in making informed decisions during the counselling and seat allotment process.
